We are looking for new members to join our Board of Trustees.

Behind Closed Doors provides practical and emotional support to individuals and families whose lives have been affected by domestic abuse.  We deliver essential community and outreach based support as part of the Leeds Domestic Violence commissioned service and run a specialist Prevention and Recovery Service alongside this.  This is an exciting yet challenging time for BCD, with the pressure of an increasingly tough financial climate as we respond to the growing demand for our services.

We recognise the value of a diverse Board made up of people with a range of skills and expertise.  We are particularly interested in recruiting new members with a Public Health, Social Care, Local Authority Commissioning, Legal or HR background.

We are not currently recruiting for this volunteer role, we will update this page when vacancies become available.

Office volunteers offer emotional support over the phone, helping service users begin to understand their abusive relationship while they wait for one to one support. Our volunteers work with our service users from our office in West Leeds.

Duties include:

  • Answering incoming calls to the service from professionals, service users and those seeking more information, signposting where relevant and taking self-referrals.
  • Offering support calls to service users.
  • Keeping service user records updated on our case management system.
  • Supporting colleagues with administrative tasks.
