Our training programme (which all Volunteers attend) is a group programme which we run approximately 3/4 times a year. Training takes place one day per week over approximately 5/6 weeks and is followed by a 4 week period (again, one day per week) of shadowing other members of the Volunteer project as well as staff in the Outreach Team who work with people at high risk and in need of high levels of practical support. On satisfactory completion of these stages, Volunteers then go on to support their own clients in community based roles or through phone support/admin tasks for office-based roles. All Volunteering takes place within normal office hours for health, safety and risk management reasons. All Volunteers will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check which BCD arranges.
