We operate our Outreach team as part of the Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS) in partnership with Leeds Women's Aid and HALT (Help Advice and Law Team).

LDVS offer short and long-term interventions and support in a number of different ways and locations.  Our services are split into specialist Teams, each offering specific services, working with you in your own home, by phone or at safe locations across the City.

IDVA Team Outreach Team

LDVS jointly operates a 24-hour telephone support line with Stonham Homegroup. You can call the line at any time for emotional support, information on LDVS or other services, or ask for dedicated support.

LDVS run this service weekdays during office hours, and it is picked up by Stonham Homegroup out of office hours, evenings and weekends.

Our IDVA support focuses on providing legal advice and advocacy on a range of issues within the civil and criminal justice systems, as well as additional short term support for high risk victims.

This can include advice on injunctions, children's matters and divorce, as well as support with the police or at court. IDVA's offer short or long-term support depending on your needs.

Resettlement support can be offered if you are a woman in temporary or emergency accommodation and we can help you to move into independent living and permanent housing. We can start working with you from the point you are offered permanent accommodation. Resettlement workers will support you to settle in to your new communities and successfully live independently.

Our outreach workers at BCD will provide regular practical and emotional support on such issues as housing, benefits and budgeting, safety planning, health and social care and community engagement.

We offer support and information on civil matters and we can accompany you to solicitor's appointments and attend Civil Court Proceedings with you. We can liaise with agencies on your behalf to ensure that you receive specialist support in areas such as drug and alcohol dependency, mental health and children's education and well-being.

Behind Closed Doors is an independent registered charity but we work closely with many other organisations, receiving requests for support directly from victims but also from:

As part of our support work, we liaise with these and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcome for people needing help with the multiple and complex issues created by domestic abuse.   In the large majority of situations, we work only with other agencies with the express consent of the client.
