Behind Closed Doors is an independant registered charity, however we work in close partnership with a number of agencies to address the issues of women and their children whose lives are affected by domestic abuse. 

We have developed a pro-active working relationship with key agencies in Leeds, including the police and other statutory and voluntary agencies.

Some of the agencies we are involved in partnership working are:

Leeds West North West Homes

The Tenancy Support Team was set up in 2008 to work with the vulnerable council tenants in our area. Our role is to carry out an assessment with our tenants, and then make one or more referrals to the most appropriate agency(s) in their particular area of Leeds.

Once a support provider has agreed to support that particular tenant or tenants, we will continue to monitor this support plan on a quarterly basis. This will include us speaking with both the tenant and the support provider to ensure the plan is working for that particular tenant and that they are engaging well with the support provided.

Our relationship with the support providers is crucial in the success of our team, and in January 2009 a number of these agencies, including Behind Closed Doors,  signed up to our network sharing agreement which will enable us to work closer in the future.

H.A.L.T. -Help advice and law team

Halt provide support and advocacy to women and their children experiencing violence from a man they know.  Halt support any woman woman who is involved in, or considering,  court proceedings. They run a confidential helpline, offering one-off advice or on-going support. They also provide 1:1 support and advice.

Halt and Behind Closed Doors work in joint partnership to provide women with the specific specialist support that they need.

Keighley Women's Aid provide safe, temporary refuge accomadation for any woman, with or without children, who needs to get away from violence and abuse in the home. They have two properties that are run by female staff. It is a confidential service with confidential addresses.  They also provide services specifically for children who live in the refuge, including one to one and group session, trips out and support with parenting.

Behind Closed Doors is a member of KWA group and has strong links with Keighley Women's Aid
