From the middle of 2007 Behind Closed Doors found itself in funding crisis. With funding from a number of different sources that had allowed the project to progress from its initial pilot coming to an end, the future looked bleak.
2008 however has seen the organisation turn the corner so that hope has started to return to everyone involved. The staff and Management Committee of Behind Closed Doors would like to extend a thanks to all the organisations and businesses that have given a lifeline to the project. In total the organisation has received donations and grants totalling over £110,000 in 2008. Particular gratitude goes to the following local organisations: Bradford and Bingley plc, Emmandjay trust , Chevin Masonic Lodge , Sinclairs, United Reform Church , Yorkshire Bank, Leeds Building Society and the North West Area Committee of Leeds Council. Major financial backing was also received from Tudor Trust, Leeds Community Safety and Nationwide Building Society. The organisation has also been lucky enough to be nominated as a beneficiary of Otley Carnival this year.
Everyone involved acknowledges that this is only the first step in securing the long term future of the organisation and numerous other applications for funding have been and will be lodged.
